remember Schnitzler studied in high school, and between the readings that were required for the tasks of the holiday was his "The signorina Else”.
Anni dopo uscì il film con Tom Cruise e Nicole Kidman “Eyes wide shut”, film ispirato al libro “Doppio sogno” di Arthur Schnitzler appunto. La trama del film segue quella del romanzo di Schnitzler, ad eccezione della locazione, dalla Vienna di inizio Novecento alla New York anni novanta, ed il nome dei personaggi: il medico Fridolin diventa l'omologo Bill Harford e la moglie Albertine diventa Alice. E da questi due elementi sono partita per la lettura di questo piccolo libro (una sessantina di pagine esclusa l’introduzione).

In the late nineteenth century Vienna starts in the night visions and apparitions of the good Dr. Fridolin, a doctor married to fashion a beautiful woman. In a hallucinatory dream man encounters four women who are offered no avail, the daughter of a deceased patient, a prostitute, the girl-child daughter of a rent-costumes, a beautiful naked woman, met in a costume party in a mysterious villa. After returning home, frustrated over not having committed adultery, the wife hears the story of a dream in which he was betrayed.

Never wonder what the future will . This is one of the concluding sentences of the book, and is a bit 'extreme its synthesis.
I must say that I was left a bit 'puzzled, I found without head or tail. Leaves the reader in suspense, with all the mystery that follows. And the implicit message of living life and took the turn regardless of the past. Looking back may have little effect, can look forward to having much the same way. The only thing to do is live the present with their own experiences.

easy to read, really short (I read it basically in one day) which may leave the reader lost in the finals, but with a little personal reflection and the desire to imagine what will become of Fridolin and his wife Albertine.

Sono però felice di dire che con il film ispirato al libro (Eyes Wide Shut con Cruise e la Kidman) riprende minimamente il film, è inizialmente ispirato al libro ma ha uno svolgersi delle vicende tutto suo.
