
Piero Gilardi ha fatto della ricerca artistica e della sperimentazione, una costante del suo lungo cammino nell’arte. Partendo dalla ricerca sui materiali, i Tappeti Natura sono realizzati infatti in poliuretano espanso, l’artista ha condotto una ricerca continua che non ha mai smesso di guardare alle nuove tecnologie, arrivando ad opere che integrano natura e informatica.
Esponente di spicco del movimento dell’Arte Poor, for the choice he made use of plastics in its work, Gilardi has never stopped looking to progress. His art has always been directed toward the man and his relationship with nature, anticipating many of the routes that are opening today in contemporary art. Just be careful not to call it a precursor, because that definition would certainly limiting, Gilardi is an artist who has given so much art and continues to pursue a path of innovative research and consistent.
Piero Gilardi was born in Turin in 1942, is a pioneer in multimedia and interactive art experiences in Italy, a leading figure in the Arte Povera movement, in the late 60s also carry a political militancy in the extra-parliamentary left, leading experience of collective creativity in the suburbs and "world" in countries like Nicaragua or Mexico.
Since the 80s is the full restoration of his artistic production, starting his research in a direction more and more technological and interactive.
